Language Arts Classroom Information
In Mrs. Lindberg's Language Arts class students will be going to the library every week. Please make sure that your child has a signed permission slip or they will not be able to check out a book. This was in the information packet that was send home the first week of school.

We ask that children turn their books in one day before so our librarian, has time to check all the books in. This also allows time for those who may have forgotten their books. If a child does not bring their book back they will not be permitted to check out a new one out.

The students will be required to read their book and take an Accelerated Reader test on that book each week. The books should be at their independent reading level.

Homework Policy
In Mrs. Lindberg's Math and Language Arts classes homework is given on Monday and is due the following Monday. The homework is review of what has already been taught. It should be completed by the student independently as much as possible. Late homework will be accepted if parents have made prior arrangements with me. If the homework is not turned in within two weeks you will be notified through the binder reminder.
Math Classroom Information
In math I teach the students a strategy called TouchMath. The TouchMath program has been designed to ensure that children cultivate rote memory skills. Using pictorial objects and TouchPoints, I teach children to associate numerals with real values, actual number quantities. Children learn that the numeral five is not just a word or a squiggle on a page. The five represents something and has meaning—a quantity of five ladybugs, buttons, apples or TouchPoints. The easiest known way to help youngsters develop the number/value connection is to associate numbers with actual quantities. This association must be repeated on a regular basis until the child assimilates each numerical concept.
Math facts are an important concept to master. Students can go to the Math page on this website to practice them. They need to use the link called Math Magician. The students need to practice starting with adding (+ 1) then move through the levels.
